 FAQ & policies

  • Yes, music may be played at the ceremony site only (house music will play during brunch and dinner service). We recommend hiring String Theory. There is also an outlet at the ceremony site for other music. The volume must not exceed 75 decibels.

  • No. All non farm vehicles are prohibited beyond the parking lot. All props and decorations must be carried to the ceremony site, and all guests must walk to the ceremony site or hire a farm wagon for transportation.

  • Small floral arrangements and any decorations that can be carried to the ceremony site are permitted. Balloons, glitter, confetti, large decorations, large props, tents & furniture are prohibited. Any small decorations used for the elopement ceremony must be removed immediately after the ceremony.

  • Children are welcome during daytime events. Dinner at Congaree and Penn is meant for an adult atmosphere centered on fine dining. Some children thrive in a fine dining setting – they are welcome! We do kindly request that children are always supervised and mindful and respectful of other guests, no matter the time of day. Please do note that children’s menus are not offered for event bookings.

  • Yes! Well behaved dogs on leashes are welcome.

  • The benches will be set up at the oak tree by the creek. They will face the knotted crook of the oak tree. You are welcome to move the benches as long as they remain in the vicinity of the ceremony site.

  • For seated events, guests will be seated at three 10' X 3' farm tables. For mingling events, two 10’ X 3’ farm tables will be available for sipping and snacking. Limited seating of 10 chairs will be available.

Congaree and Penn provides flower arrangements and votives (these cannot be customized). If preferred, clients are welcome to provide their own small flower arrangements and votives. Candles must be contained to prevent wax from dripping on tables. Balloons, glitter, confetti, and large decorations are not permitted.

  • No. Congaree and Penn prohibits outside food & beverages. If you are dining with us, you are welcome to bring your own wine. A corkage fee of $25 per bottle will apply. Similar to the corkage fee, a fee will also apply to outside desserts.

  • Reservations are rain or shine. The event setting is covered and protected by a pergola.

Congaree and Penn will not be held liable for inclement weather (rain, thunderstorms, hurricanes, etc.), acts of God, epidemics, pandemics, or loss of electricity. In the event of a disaster, all payments made to Congaree and Penn will remain nonrefundable and nontransferable after 30 days prior to the reservation. Congaree and Penn enforces this policy for planning, staffing, and food purchasing purposes.

Congaree and Penn highly recommends that clients purchase personal event insurance to cover the cost of their investment in the event of a disaster. Because of the size of the reservation, Congaree and Penn cannot accommodate guests elsewhere.

  • We encourage guests to dress accordingly for the weather. Overhead fans and heaters are available, but please keep in mind that you will be dining outdoors. While Congaree and Penn makes great effort to control insects (flies, mosquitos, ants, etc.), guests must acknowledge that insects are an inherent part of the outdoors in Florida. Guests are encouraged to ensure their own comfort by wearing insect repellant, especially during warmer months. Please note that reservations during the months of January through early March will likely be chilly, and reservations during the months of June through September will likely be very warm.

  • While we expect that onlookers will be mindful and respectful of the elopement ceremony, Congaree and Penn cannot be held responsible for interruptions when the farm is open to the public.

    Smoking and vaping are prohibited.

  • A signed agreement and the nonrefundable site fee are due immediately to reserve the day and time of your elopement ceremony. If you would like to pair the ceremony with lunch or dinner, a nonrefundable deposit of the food & beverage minimum is also required. Payment may be made via ACH bank transfer or credit card. Credit card payments will incur a three percent convenience fee.
